This year’s international festival of theatre and music takes place from Friday 14 July to Sunday 16 July at La Chaussée!
This summer Footsbarn Theatre opens its doors once again for its annual celebration ‘Footsbarn en Fête’, a festival that brings together international and local artists in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
With over 50 years of international touring behind us, we have had many profound exchanges with artists from all over the world, and we have the great pleasure of inviting them to join us and perform, once again, under our Big Top which has been the theatre of our travels since 1996, set amongst the rolling pastures in our Bourbonnais bocage.
There will be performances by emerging and established theatre companies, music, a performance by a Polish director, video installations, children’s theatre and, of course, our iconic opening and closing ceremonies.
We will have a catering, bar and wilderness camping, all taking place under the open skies of La Chaussée – our base and creative home in the Aliier department in central France.
The informal nature of this event where a wind of freedom blows allows great moments of sharing between the public and artists from all over the world. So come an join us for an unforgettable weekend!

PERFORMERS
About Automne
Direct from Paris playing a retro-modern, style of music with a refreshing sense of subtle purity – not to be missed!
About Waiting for Godot – Footsbarn Theatre
With Anne de Broca, Philippe Dormoy, Vincent Gracieux and Paddy Hayter. A tree, two men, bowler hats and worn-out clothes, then a rope. They are waiting for Godot.
About Le Peuple de l’Enfance – Haute Vienne
How to explain in a few words?
I arrive on a three-wheeled bike (Nautilus).
Once parked on the square of your village,
I install a pedal carousel (the remu-manège) ,
a cotton candy machine with pedal power
an open-air cinema with a crank
an ice cream machine with feet
a piano bar joule all dente
Two shows and not one to catch up with the other.
About The open door – Ton und Kirschen (from Berlin)
The times we live in made the Ton und Kirschen Theater, which spans three generations, change the title of its new project. Instead of JUBILÄUM we now call it THE OPEN DOOR. Performing in the open air, our “door” has always been open, and we are fortunate that it can remain so.
